Making a commitment involves dedicating yourself to something, like a person or a cause. … it obligates you to do something. Some are large, like marriage. When you take a job, you commit to show up and do the job well, and your employer commits to pay you.
The question we want to answer is, how can we make a total sacrifice to follow God? Paul says it best in Roman 12. And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.
When Jesus went to the cross, He made a total sacrifice for each of us. Then He rose from the grave giving us the opportunity to accept Him. Then we enter His family and we receive all the benefits of being His sons and daughters. Which is the foundation of making a total commitment to following God.
