The Bible doesn’t explain compassion like a dictionary does. It doesn’t simply telling us what the word means. Instead, the Bible defines it by showing us what it looks like. It tells the involvement of being compassionate.
The spirit of the word compassion is synonymous with doing. Which means it doesn’t concern itself with material or physical things. It’s concerned with the human spirit and soul. Therefore the its spiritual definition involves acting to alleviate the suffering, of others.
1 Peter 3:8 is one of the most well-known Bible verses about the subject: “Be like-minded and sympathetic. Love one another. Therefore show compassionate behavior and humility.” We can practice it in everyday life.
