The women went to the tomb on Resurrection Sunday to prepare the body of Jesus for burial. His body wasn’t there, instead, they met an angel. This angelic being told them that Jesus had risen and He would meet His disciples at the predetermined place. Our Lord is also going to gather us in a prearranged place. Are you ready to meet Jesus in the air?
Then go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead; and behold, He is going ahead of you into Galilee [as He promised]. There you will see Him; behold, I have told you. Matthew 28:7 AMP
Have you ever taken a group of young people on an outing? That was one of my jobs when I was a youth pastor. Let’s say you take them to a mall or a theme park. The last thing those teenagers wanted to do, was to hang out with the youth leaders.
Since they wanted to go their own ways, we had to establish a few rules. Among others, one of the main rules included regular accountability. We all needed to meet at a certain place at certain times throughout the day.
It seemed that Jesus must have made similar arrangements with His disciples before he was arrested and killed. At the time His disciples didn’t quite understand the death and resurrection in which Jesus talked about.
A Prearranged Meeting
They just knew He suffered a horrible death. It left them at a place where they didn’t know what to do with themselves. The women delivered to them the message of His resurrection. The angel told them to meet Him in Galilee. According to verse 16, they knew exactly where.
Then the eleven disciples left for Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. Matthew 28:16

Are You Ready To Meet Jesus?
Jesus has planned another meeting and this one is going to be in the air. It will be a gathering of all the saints, both those in the grave and those still alive.
For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
This event will happen quickly, in the twinkling of an eye.
Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 1 Corinthians 15:51-52
I personally am looking forward to when the Lord calls us home. Are you ready?
